Everyone starts out with good intentions. Your new project is different: it will be clean, the code will be clear, everything in the world will be lovely.
Fast-forward three months: feature creep has made you the mayor of Spaghettitown and introducing new colleagues to your codebase requires a guide, a head-torch and a safety rope.
But it doesn't have to be this way: just find a way remind yourself to keep it simple. Like, say, a subtle A1 poster in calming pale blue.
